SH2-261 - The Lowers Nebula
Lower's Nebula (Sh2-261) is an intriguing emission nebula discovered by amateur astronomers Harold and Charles Lower in 1939. Located in the constellation Orion and approximately 3,300 light-years away, it is a site of active star formation and ionized hydrogen emission. Despite its faintness, it remains an important object of study for understanding the processes involved in star birth and the dynamics of the interstellar medium.
